Beumer takes over conveyor system manufacturer FAM

The Beumer Group is strengthening its position in the field of conveying and loading technology with the acquisition of FAM GmbH Magdeburg. The company is recognised as one of the world's leading full-service providers of bulk material handling and processing systems.

Beumer, a manufacturer of intralogistics systems in the fields of conveying and loading systems, palletising and packaging technology as well as sorting and distribution systems, intends to expand its portfolio with the acquisition of FAM GmbH, Magdeburg. Strengthen market position in the large appliances segment too

The medium-sized FAM Group, headquartered in Magdeburg, is a supplier of conveyor systems and loading technology and can look back on a tradition that stretches far into the 19th century. The group plans, designs and manufactures turnkey plants and systems for the extraction, transport, loading and storage of minerals, raw materials and goods. FAM employs around 750 people at its headquarters and subsidiaries in Brazil, Chile, China, Canada and India as well as agencies worldwide.  

According to analyses by industry experts, the business areas of the two companies complement each other ideally. Among other things, Beumer specialises in materials handling technology in mining and for mines and is also firmly established on the market in bulk solids technology. FAM's technology for the transport and processing of minerals therefore fits in well with the portfolio of the Beumer Group.
