The design of a new bicycle packaging from Thimm Packaging Systems solves previous problems with packing and unpacking. The paper-based packaging is also fully recyclable.
Demand for bicycles is booming. Manufacturers usually ship their bikes almost fully assembled. Often, only the final assembly of lights and pedals as well as the adjustment of the handlebars takes place on site at the specialist retailer or at the end customer's premises.

Bicycle packaging rethought
The packaging was developed in a joint project between Thimm Packaging Systems and Thimm pack'n'display. It is suitable for all bicycles and e-bikes between 18 and 29 inches. It consists of Made entirely from sustainable corrugated cardboard in BC quality. The flat, one-piece blanks can be cut to size using Integrated snap fasteners and adhesive strips can be set up quickly and easily.
Display
The packaging design includes a saddle holder, a steering wheel fixation and two wheel holders to secure the bike and send it safely protected. The sustainable packaging also comes without the usual upholstery and protective materials such as foil bags, polystyrene or bubble wrap. There is sufficient storage space for a cardboard box. Closing agent such as staples or strapping tape are also not required.

The new design of the Thimm-The bike packaging makes unpacking easier, as the bike packaging is in the centre via a tear-off perforation is opened. The resulting side sections can be folded open and the wheel can simply be slid out of the packaging. There is no need to lift out the wheel as with other packaging solutions that can be opened from the top.
After opening
Since the packaging is a Single-material solution made of corrugated cardboarde, it does not have to be separated at great expense. It can be disposed of completely via the Waste paper and the used cardboard boxes can be reprocessed into raw paper for corrugated cardboard production. However, the bicycle packaging should not be disposed of too quickly, as it is also suitable for a ReturnsThe bike can be pushed in and the associated brackets secure it again against transport damage. As soon as everything is in place, the packaging can be closed again using the push-in fasteners without additional adhesive tape.
