Big anniversary at Optima

At the beginning of May, Optima not only celebrated 100 years of company history, but also inaugurated a CSPE centre for the pharmaceutical sector.

In 1922, Otto Bühler seized the opportunity and laid the foundations for a successful company history. Now, Optima has not only celebrated its 100th anniversary, but also inaugurated a new CSPE centre for the pharmaceutical sector.

The business division Optima Pharmaceuticals This expands its production area for the assembly, commissioning and qualification of pharmaceutical filling lines by more than 4,000 square metres. New office workplaces were also created. Minister President Winfried Kretschmann travelled to the site especially for the inauguration. The first lines were installed after a construction period of just seven months. The company is further expanding the successful CSPE process for a fast and safe production start of the integrated filling lines with isolators and freeze dryers.

„Our celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of our company provide the perfect setting for the inauguration of the CSPE Centre II. With this investment, we are once again reaffirming our commitment to Schwäbisch Hall as a location and are confidently creating the conditions for further growth.“

Despite the pandemic and material shortages in the construction industry, the new building was completed in a record time of just twelve months. „Our thanks and appreciation go to our architect Rolf Blank and all the companies and authorities involved for this masterful achievement,“ emphasises Bühler.

„As part of CSPE 2.0, the level of integration will be even higher. Work that until now has typically been carried out on the customer's construction site will be carried out to an even greater extent in one of our CSPE centres.“

Comprehensive Scientific Process Engineering (CSPE) Accelerates processes from system design to the start of production. Comprehensive process simulations and integrated factory acceptance tests for complete systems are an essential part of this. In addition to filling and capping systems and isolators, freeze-drying systems can now also be set up and tested under realistic conditions and as a functioning complete unit.

As a complete system provider, the company now handles further qualification measures in-house, including significant parts of the cycle development. This reduces the time required between the start of installation and the start of production at the customer's site. Time from product development to market launch is shortened overall for customers.
