A drinks can that changes colour when it reaches drinking temperature - this is how Czech energy drink manufacturer Big Shock wants to attract new customers.

The manufacturer of energy drinks shows the effect on a 500 ml can in a limited edition, which above all Fans of video games is designed to appeal. Against a black background with prominent red and yellow graphics, a thermochromic panel in a loading bar style gradually transforms from yellow at room temperature to a bright green when the contents have cooled to the perfect drinking temperature.

Ardagh has developed the colour-to-colour effect in collaboration with CTI, a leading manufacturer of thermochromic printing inksused. Building on the success of Ardagh's thermal impact enhancement, which reveals hidden messages or designs at a specific temperature, the new colour-to-colour option uses special coloured inks to Accurately display temperature changes. At the same time, this method offers the opportunity to expand the graphic design in a variety of ways. With the limited games edition of Big Shock the aesthetics are only black, red and yellow until the can has cooled down - then the "green to go" finally appears - an allusion to traffic lights and the excitement of racing games

Striking colour combination
