BRCGS certification for Christiansen Print

The Lower Saxony site of Christiansen Print, part of the Thimm Group, has been awarded the certificate for the BRC Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials.

By achieving classification A, the European market leader in flexographic and digital pre-printing is expanding its expertise in the further processing of packaging materials for food further out.

In January of this year Christiansen Print at the Northeim site Initial certification according to the Global Standards for Packaging and Packaging Materials (Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standard short BRCGS) successfully. The result: Class A - the second best of five possible classifications. 

„We are thus setting an important course for the future. The demand for paper-based solutions for direct food contact has increased significantly, not least due to the changes in the Packaging Act.“

The BRC Global Standard defines the quality and safety requirements for packaging materials and packaging. The acquisition of the globally valid certificate supports companies in achieving a Proof of quality assurance and thus demonstrate the safety of the processed products. Auditing and certification is carried out by an independent audit - recertification can take place after one year and a new audit.

Transparent supply chain

„Among other things, the standards contain specific requirements for operational management in terms of Product safety, quality and hygiene. Quality management is a key issue for us,“ says Weber, explaining the importance of the certificate. „As we are a supplier in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors, among others, product quality and safety have the highest priority. We attach great importance to Security for the entire supply chain to guarantee this. With the certificate, we can demonstrate this transparently and comprehensibly for our customers.“

In preparation for the certification invested a sum in the high five-figure range in the site. Among other things, measures were implemented for extended plant safety and some refurbishment work. BRCGS certification is also planned for the company's headquarters in Ilsenburg (Saxony-Anhalt) in the coming year. Initial preparations are currently underway and investments in the site are also planned.
