On 18 October 2024, Fakuma, one of the leading trade fairs for plastics processing, is organising a special Careers Friday for school classes. Under the motto „Mold Your Future“, school pupils will have the opportunity to get to know exciting and diverse professions in the plastics industry.
This initiative is aimed in particular at school pupils who are about to choose a career or study programme and are interested in STEM subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology). The Career Friday offers various guided tours that familiarise the pupils with the world of work in plastics processing should. One of the round combs is used by Plastics Europe Germany organised.
Under the title „From granulate to product and back again“, participants are given a comprehensive insight into the plastics production chain. Here, the pupils learn how plastics are manufactured, processed and recycled at the end of their life cycle. These tours are not only intended to technical knowledge, but also the importance of sustainability and the circular economy clarify.
„Teachers who teach subjects such as chemistry, physics, biology or computer science could use the Career Friday to familiarise their students with various STEM professions,“ explains Tanja Rühl from Plastics Europe Germany. In her opinion, Fakuma offers a good opportunity to combine school content with practical experience. This applies in particular to topics such as sustainability and the circular economy, which can be explained clearly and practically at the trade fair.
The tours are free of charge for participating school classes. A free shuttle service is also offered from Friedrichshafen railway station to the exhibition centre. Teachers can bring their school classes register for the tours by 1 October 2024. The organisers hope that this offer will help to arouse young people's interest in the plastics industry and introduce them to potential career fields.
The Fakuma is an established platform for the plastics processing industry and regularly attracts numerous exhibitors and visitors. The aim of the Career Friday is to specifically address young people and give them an insight into an industry that is known for its innovative strength and future prospects.
