More sustainability can only be achieved together. That's why Optima, Wipf and säntis packaging have joined forces and developed the environmentally friendly „GreenLution“ capsule system. (Image: Optima)

It is a joint endeavour by three companies. Optima, Wipf and säntis packaging have worked on the fully recyclable capsule system. It comprises a mono-material capsule with a recyclable lidding film and a matching packaging system. The result is the holistic „GreenLution“ project, which encompasses far more than just a recyclable coffee capsule.

With this development, the partner companies aim to promote a sustainable closed-loop system from production and use through to the recycling of the packaging. Each partner has contributed its own expertise.

Three companies - one system

From säntis comes the polypropylene-based monomaterial capsule RECY+Cap. Wipf contributes the fully recyclable WICOGREENLINE top film. The manufacturer refers to its excellent barrier properties.

Finally, the capsules are filled using a packaging system from Optima. Its CFL capsule filling machine is optimised for the new capsule.
