Constantia Flexibles will be presenting new products at Fachpack in Nuremberg, including a new, lighter sealing film, a bio-based capsule lid and a recyclable monomaterial solution for the pharmaceutical sector, as well as the established Ecolutions product line.
Constantia Flexibles has developed the CompresSeal technology together with the Dutch film manufacturer Plasthill B.V.. This is based on a new type of micro-embossing technologyThe embossing pattern makes it possible to reduce the grammage of polyolefin sealing films by up to 30 per cent while maintaining the same packaging thickness. This reduces the CO2-footprint and the consumption of packaging and raw materials.
The Pharma Division of Constantia Flexibles is also launching a new product on the market. The Polypropylene (PP)-based, recyclable monomaterial solution Perpetua Alta has a high chemical resistance to pharmaceutical products. Its unique selling point is the combination of sustainability and resistance, in addition to a lower weight and higher efficiency. Compared to conventional laminates, it combines these properties with optimum protection against oxygen, water vapour and light.
The EcoPressoLid capsule lid from Constantia Flexibles is Compostable, bio-based and for closing the top and bottom of compostable coffee capsules suitable. The EN13432-certified material was awarded „OK Compost Industrial“ by TÜV Austria in 2022 and impresses with its high oxygen barrier and excellent performance during the brewing process.
Developing packaging for the circular economy
In addition to the product innovations Constantia Flexibles on the Fachpack 2022 also its well-known product lines, including its sustainable Ecolutions packaging line. Consisting of the recyclable product families EcoLam (mono PE laminate), EcoVer (mono PP laminate), EcoPaper (paper solutions) and EcoPeelCover (aluminium-based die-cut lid), the product line aims to reduce the environmental impact while maintaining the same packaging performance.
„Our investments in research and development are clearly aimed at developing and producing packaging in line with the circular economy. In this way, we guarantee not only customised, but also recyclable packaging solutions and thus help our customers to bring more sustainable products to the market“
