More than 40 per cent post-consumer recycled glass

Gerresheimer has been committed to the use of post-consumer recycled glass for 10 years. In collaboration with customers, the company has developed a high-quality Cosmetic glass for the production of flacons, jars and numerous other cosmetic bottles developed. The proportion of recycled cullet has continued to increase in recent years. It is now at an extraordinarily high proportion of over 40 per cent.

"We feel committed to the circular economy. If you can successfully reproduce something over and over again, it's glass," adds Nicola Balena. His success proves him right. Over the years, customer interest in sustainable cosmetics packaging has continued to grow, so that Momignies can now point to full capacity utilisation with PCR glass.

Gerresheimer's production sites in Momignies, Belgium, and Tettau, Germany, form the Centre of Excellence for highly specialised and sustainable Gerresheimer cosmetic glass production.

More sustainability without compromising on aesthetics

Glass bottles and jars are the most important packaging material for many cosmetic products. The higher the proportion of post-consumer recycled glass used, the less energy is required for production. This means that the amount of recycled glass used at the sites in Momignies and Tettau energy savings in the production phase. The use of recycled glass also contributes to this, save valuable natural resources.
