Landes GmbH has expanded the machinery of its „Der Lohnabfüller“ brand. The Ingolstadt-based company now has a glass printing machine that enables its customers to combine glass printing and filling at a single location, which is probably unique in the EU.

With the new screen printing machine, „Der Lohnabfüller“ now offers, in addition to the extensive labelling options for cans, jars and bottles, the option of printing all information such as logos, EAN codes or other additional information on the label. to be printed in multiple colours directly on jars and bottles, but also on metal and aluminium packaging, earthenware and plastic containers. According to the company, there are virtually no limits to the design and layout.

The New combination of contract filling and glass printing The fact that the glass is produced at just one location also keeps costs low for customers, as transport routes from the glassworks to the glass refinery and from there to the actual production site are cost-intensive. The Savings through direct delivery of the empty glass directly from the glassworks to the „contract filler“ can quickly reach four to five figures, depending on the order volume, says Managing Director Simon Landes, who is the fourth generation to run the family business in the south of Ingolstadt together with his wife Marina. With the commissioning of the new machine, Landes GmbH now offers printing, filling and quality control from a single source.

Environmentally friendly process

The glass printing machine uses screen printing to generate a very fine, intricate print image directly on the glass or bottle. Thanks to modern LED technology no toxic vapours are produced during the drying process and Energy consumption is reduced to a minimum. This saves resources, protects the environment and reduces costs.

„Direct glass printing is always a form of glass finishing - and makes a brand and an item stand out from the crowd. If a customer also requires a lid seal label during the filling process or would like to apply the best-before date or other information to a specific spot on the printed jar using inkjet, this is no problem for us.“

Simon Landes, Managing Director

Thanks to special camera technology, the container is aligned in such a way that Additional belly or lid labels and inkjet coding can be applied specifically to the printed glass and harmonise perfectly with the glass print motif.

Landes GmbH has been a partner in the filling of food and non-food products for over 100 years. Filling into many different types of packaging is one of the Ingolstadt-based company's core competences. As in contract filling glass printing services are also available from small to large quantities - if desired, also without subsequent contract filling.
