
Coffee drinkers can now embark on a digital journey with the help of an individual QR code on each sleeve of Kahawa Ya Congo organic coffee and digitally track the Nespresso supply chain from cultivation to arrival in the respective region.
According to Nespresso, the brand is thus pioneering a new form of transparency. The organic coffee from the Congo is part of the Nespresso „Made with Care“ initiative Reviving Originswhich Reviving lost coffee regions wants to leave.
Nespresso cooperates with the Impact Venture OpenSC, to use technology to a new level of transparency for Kahawa Ya Congo. Every bag of organic coffee is digitally tracked by the 1,184 small farmers of the AMKA cooperative in South Kivu until it arrives in the respective sales region.
The The OpenSC platform automatically verifies, that every AMKA farmer receives the correct premium payment for the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality Programme to ensure fair and accurate payment for the coffee they produce.
