Eckes-Granini presents sustainability report

The Eckes-Granini Group has set itself the goal of becoming one of the most sustainable companies in the juice and fruit beverage sector. The family-owned company is now publishing a Group-wide sustainability report for the first time. The strategy also includes switching to rPET.

The Eckes-Granini Group has set itself the goal of becoming one of the most sustainable companies in the juice and fruit beverage sector. The family-owned company is now publishing a Group-wide sustainability report for the first time. Eckes-Granini is implementing its strategy in six core areas: Sustainable juice, packaging, climate protection, nutrition, social responsibility and employees.

„We have been driving forward our sustainability activities very consistently for years because we are aware of our responsibility as a family business,“ explains Tim Berger, CEO of the Eckes-Granini Group. „Sustainable management is deeply rooted in our DNA as a family business and fruit juice producer. Because natural raw materials have always formed the basis for all Eckes-Granini products."

Looking back on numerous stage successes

In recent years, several intermediate stages and milestones have been reached. For example, 100 per cent of PET bottles are already recyclable across the Group. Between 2015 and 2020, the weight of packaging within the entire product range was reduced by 10 per cent. The proportion of added sugar in fruit drinks and nectars was also reduced by 10 per cent during this period. In Cooperation with ClimatePartner the conditions for climate neutrality at all Eckes-Granini locations were created. Since 1 January 2021, all Eckes-Granini national subsidiaries have carried the ClimatePartner label „Climate Neutral Company“.

In the coming years, further goals will be pursued as part of the sustainability strategy on the way to becoming one of the most sustainable fruit juice producers:

  • By 2030 at the latest, 100 per cent of juices and purees should be made exclusively from sustainably grown fruit can be produced.
  • By 2025, all PET bottles across the Group are to be made from 100 per cent r-PET (recycled PET) and the packaging weight of the products (PET, glass, closures) should be reduced by a further 10 per cent.
  • The proportion of added sugar in fruit drinks and nectars within the overall product range is set to fall by a further 10 per cent by 2025.
  • The Eckes-Granini science-based targets (SBT) reduction targets: By 2030 Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduced by 95 per cent and Scope 3 emissions per litre by 50 per cent or by 40 per cent in absolute terms, assuming volume growth of 20 per cent.
  • By 2030, Eckes-Granini 100 per cent on climate-friendly heating and drive technologies um.
  • By 2025, Team Rynkeby is to be supported in reaching a total donation sum of 100 million euros for seriously ill children and their families.
