The configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2 from Pilz makes it possible to transfer control and safety-relevant information on the way to efficient production, where safety concepts are seamlessly integrated into machine concepts. The small controller supports the open communication system EtherCAT FSoE.
Safety over EtherCAT for EtherCAT communication: From version 11.3 of the PNOZmulti Configurator software tool, the safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 can be easily configured as an FSoE master, as an FSoE slave and also as an EtherCAT slave. Up to four master-master and up to 60 master-slave connections are possible with the EtherCAT FSoE communication module in conjunction with the base unit PNOZ m B1.
This means that flexible system structures can be easily implemented with a „one-cable solution“ at fieldbus level and also flexibly expanded. The certified safety system thus ensures a high degree of Safety and efficiency in machines and systems.
With PNOZmulti 2 as the FSoE master, safety-relevant networking with the safe radar sensor PSENradar from Mushroom can be easily realised with the safe drive technology PMC (Pilz Motion Control) - both with FSoE functionality. Here too, the „one-cable solution“ is used to connect FSoE-capable Flexibly integrate actuators and sensors into the network. As an FSoE master, PNOZmulti 2 combines the monitoring of all safety functions - from emergency stop and safety gate to light curtains - of an application in one unit and establishes connections to safe slaves in the network. This minimises wiring work and saves costs. In addition, extensive Diagnostic options for minimised downtimes, to realise economical production.
The Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE) protocol was defined in order to realise safe data transmission for EtherCAT. FSoE allows the Transmission of secure and non-secure information in the EtherCAT communication system. FSoE is suitable for safety applications up to SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 61508.
