At the stand of the Bavarian Metal and Electrical Industry Association (bayme VBM), Excor Korrossionsschutz-Technologien und -Produkte GmbH, Hann. Münden, will be exhibiting the innovative ICB film with its intelligent active ingredient mechanism.
„30 years ago, Excor was the first supplier to introduce film packaging with volatile corrosion inhibitors. Now our in-house corrosion research has significantly developed this technology further and offers intelligent, reactive corrosion protection with ICB in addition to the well-known VCI active ingredient,“ explains Gerhard Hahn, Managing Director of the company. ICB stands for Intelligent Corrosion Blocker and is based on the relationship between the level of humidity and the risk of corrosion in metalThis increases significantly from around 55 per cent humidity. Intelligent„ corrosion protection must therefore only become active as humidity increases. This is exactly how ICB works: when moisture occurs, which can trigger corrosion, the substrate begins to release the corrosion protection agent in a controlled manner. If the exposure to moisture decreases again, its release is also reduced. The protection lasts longer overall and offers a better depot effect than corrosion protection products previously available on the market. The effect is just as effective as with VCI packaging. ICB is more economical to use and therefore also conserves resources.
The experts will also be presenting the sustainable VCI dispenser capsule Emibo Natur, which is made from 100 per cent renewable raw materials. In addition, a process for the contour-accurate lamination of load carriers with VCI film, the Excor Valeno Layertray (example in the picture), will be presented. Lamination, which is even possible for complex geometric shapes, removes the corrosive properties of trays made of corrugated cardboard or cast fibre, for example, in direct contact with metals and provides VCI corrosion protection in a closed outer packaging.
