Karl Knauer KG from Biberach specialises in packaging made of cardboard, corrugated board and paper. At FachPack, it will be presenting sustainable cardboard solutions and literally „shining“ examples of innovative packaging design.

Grass green packaging

Less plastic, more environmental protection - for the packaging specialist, future-orientated environmental awareness is a matter of course. At the trade fair, the company is presenting a up to 40 per cent from green waste existing fruit and vegetable packaging completely without flowpack film.

Instead, for example, a Renewable, home-compostable film which protects the product and also allows large viewing windows. Compared to normal cardboard, the materials used have a significantly improved CO2-balance sheet. They are suitable for contact with food and can be printed all round according to individual requirements.

Smart play of light

The Black Forest-based company's packaging, which has won several international awards, will also be on show in Nuremberg. In addition to the well-known classic Bombay Sapphire from Bacardi, the world's first over-the-counter luminous packaging, Elline cosmetics packaging from Swiss Premium Cosmetics AG and the Black Panther box, which was realised for PepsiCo (USA) and Marvel Film Studios.

Visitors can find out about the various possible applications of Lighting techniques in cardboard packaging like HiLight - smart LEDs® or printed OLEDs, which Knauer offers in cooperation with INURU GmbH, and take a look into the future of packaging.

„Light is still primarily used as an eye-catcher to showcase the brand. However, we are certain that it won't be long before entire films will run on packaging. These could then, for example, showcase the product benefits or present the company behind the product and its philosophy in an image clip,“ explains Ralf Fehrenbacher, Sales Manager at Karl Knauer.
