The wooden parts of the box are made from Birch wood panels milled and connected with screws. These enable quick replacement and thus contribute to the longevity of the FridayBOX and therefore to sustainability. The robust folding boxes are manufactured and assembled in the carpentry workshop of Varius Werkstätten, a recognised workshop for people with disabilities in the Rhine district of Neuss. „Our employees are absolutely proud to play a decisive role in the production of such a good, innovative product,“ says Andreas Knickenberg, plant manager at Varius.
The wooden folding box is currently available in two sizes and finished with linseed oil, but developer Michael Vitz is happy to cater to customer requirements. „The The design and production system also allow customisation - from the decorative design to the dimensions,“ says the experienced packaging engineer. The German Packaging Award is one of the most recognised European awards for packaging. The award ceremony will take place on 13 September 2023.
