Pre-portioned products and small packs are very popular with end consumers. They are practical for on the go or when travelling. SternMaid is now meeting this growing demand with a fourth sachet line for sealed pouches.
It was not until August 2020 that StarMaid put its third sachet line into operation: a triplex line that fills three sachets simultaneously. Since March 2022, portion bag filling has been running on four lines, two duplex and two triplex lines. The renewed Expansion of filling capacity in portion bags is the response to the constantly growing demand from consumers and therefore also from the company's customers.
In addition, the Growth rates for powdered food supplements such as vitamin mixtures or minerals, innovative nutricosmetics concepts and functional instant drinks are also fuelling this trend. Pre-portioned products also fulfil the desire for convenience, as they are ideal for on the go and can be used quickly and easily at any time.
Precise and safe filling
To ensure that the respective mixtures reach the bags in the same quantity, the systems are equipped with precise dosing systems and additionally via calibrated checkweighers. This means that overfilled or underfilled sachets are reliably ejected, which is particularly important for functional products. The company attaches great importance to safety and noise protection: the new system runs quietly, just like the three other systems. As part of the overall concept, the Afilling and packaging areas are structurally separated from each other.
"We were able to start production on what is now our fourth sachet system in record time. Thanks to excellent planning, prefabrication of all components and small parts and pre-installation of the media column, the first acceptance test took place after just one week."
