
Everyone is talking about the circular economy. But how can the packaging industry succeed in realising these lofty goals in practice? The "Future Resources" symposium, which is being jointly organised by the dvi and Interseroh+ in Cologne on 8 November, promises to provide answers.
Under the motto "Let's tackle it!", experts from retail, the consumer goods industry and the recycling sector will discuss solutions and concrete options for packaging recycling. This year's focus is on the use of recycled materials. "Many concepts are on the table - now it's a matter of driving forward their practical implementation," says Markus Müller-Drexel, CEO of Interseroh+ GmbH. "We want to tackle the challenges in partnership. Because only with strong alliances and the will to cooperate can we achieve more sustainable added value in the packaging sector."
Focus on the use of recycled materials
At the start of the symposium, weather and Climate expert Thomas Ranft the current outlook: "Sustainable. Climate. Change." is the title of his keynote speech. A categorisation of the political developments Dr Susanne Lottermoser, Head of Department at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. Afterwards we report Arne Ringkowski from Aldi North and Martin Menzel from Aldi South on the current challenges & solutions in closing the loop in the retail sector. The afternoon will be focussed on the topic of "using recycled materials". Firstly Dr Manica Ulcnik-Krump, Interzero Plastics Innovationopportunities and innovations in mechanical recycling - and Wolfgang Hofer from OMV Germany will discuss the prospects for chemical recycling. After a panel discussion on the topic of recyclate additives in packaging Annett Kaeding-Koppers from the PrintCYC initiative and Dr Anne Vos from Polycirc on the handling of printing inks and their influence on recycling.
"From the panel discussion and exciting presentations to networking during the breaks: 'Future Resources' is a lively industry platform that always provides important new impetus," says Winfried Batzke, Managing Director of the dvi. "We bring all the players in the packaging industry together to discuss problems - and jointly develop the best solutions for tomorrow."
The symposium "Future Resources 2022" will take place on 8 November 2022 from 9 am to 4:30 pm in the Ballonihallen Köln.
