If rolls need to be lifted, tilted, rotated or transported, the Danish family-run company Hovmand offers efficient and safe solutions for handling them in the packaging process with its mobile lifts. Fashion mail order company Witt Weiden, for example, swears by the „Inox 200“ models from the world's leading manufacturer of mobile, battery-powered lifts made of stainless steel or aluminium. The stainless steel lifts will also be on display at FachPack 2018.

The Witt Group from Weiden in the Upper Palatinate has had an excellent reputation for many decades as a mail-order supplier of high-quality women's fashion, underwear and shoes. Founded in 1907, the company was long known to almost everyone because of its mail-order catalogue, which was also advertised on TV. The business has long since shifted to the Internet. Currently, 2,900 employees work for Witt in Weiden.

In the shipping department in particular, Witt wanted to improve the working conditions of the film packers in recent years.

Vertical repositioning at the touch of a button

This is particularly tedious Handling the film rolls. Up to six times per shift, the employees have to replace used film rolls with new ones. To do this, the new roll has to be lifted to a height of 1.20 metres. A roll is 70 centimetres wide, has a diameter of 36 centimetres and weighs around 70 kilograms.

Although Witt had already used supporting Roller manipulators from other manufacturers. However, these only lifted the castors to the required height. The transfer from the vertical to the horizontal position still had to be carried out using muscle power. This meant a considerable workload for the employees responsible.

In order to optimise this work step, dispatch group manager Martin Meinerz decided to purchase several Inox 200 H3„ lifts from Hovmand in an electronic version. „With the Inox 200 lifts, we can not only place and lift the rolls in the right position, but also turn them horizontally at the touch of a button,“ he says, describing the advantages of the product, which he also describes as more manoeuvrable than the previously used solution.

Eight different lift models

Applications such as these play a major role on the Hovmand stand at FachPack. Many options for picking up different packaging materials will be on display. Using eight different lift models in stainless steel and aluminium, Hovmand will be presenting Recording tools like Roller manipulators, mandrels and V-block as well as electric gripping and turning tools.

In addition to roller handling, the lifts are also suitable for daily work with crates, barrels, boilers and other raw material containers. The lifting aids can be flexibly adapted to local conditions. This is ensured by the modular Modular system and a selection of electric or manual hoists.

Stainless steel lifts such as the „Inox 90“, „Inox 200“, „E 300“ and „Impox 70“ models are certified for use in pharmaceutical, chemical and food production. They offer payloads of 70 to 300 kilograms and lifting heights of 1,000 to 3,000 millimetres.
