
After a three-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic, the processing and packaging industry will meet in November for swop in Shanghai. The trade fair is organised by Messe Düsseldorf and Adsale Exhibiton Services under the interpack alliance umbrella brand and was last held with around 700 exhibitors.
The swop 2023 is just the right time to To support the business of the processing and packaging industry, to focus on innovation and to promote international business relationships. The last swop in 2019 attracted over 700 exhibitors and 25,000 trade visitors from Germany and abroad. Expectations are similarly high for 2023, with around 62,000 square metres of exhibition space being planned. The trade fair will take place from 22 to 24 November at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, the third largest exhibition centre in China.
Together with Adsale Exhibition Services, Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai organises swop under the umbrella brand of interpack alliance. Like interpack, it is aimed at all Core target groups from the food, beverages, confectionery and baked goods, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, non-food and industrial goods sectors. It covers the entire supply chain of the packaging industry. Its spectrum ranges from the production and processing of packaging materials to primary and secondary packaging and packaging printing.
Numerous Accompanying events and special areas during swop offer visitors valuable inspiration. The focus is on the circular economy, resource conservation, digital technologies and product safety as well as fast-moving consumer goods.
Focus on sustainable solutions
For the first time at swop 2023, there will be a „Green Power Immersive Interactive Exhibitor Area“, a platform for companies to Sustainable packaging solutions for the circular economy to present. In this context, resource conservation is another important topic at the trade fair, also due to increasing restrictions in the availability of materials and components on the global market. Exhibitors will be presenting high-performance components, automated technologies and environmentally friendly packaging management systems.
The Progressive digitalisation is a major issue for the packaging industry and will also be a central theme at swop. For example, there will be a special area at the trade fair for intelligent production systems for packaging and materials. The swop will also showcase innovative Present packaging solutions that help to avoid food waste and at the same time ensure product safety. Packaging for ready meals, for example, is an important topic for the Chinese market. In this regard, there are new packaging materials and technologies that can extend the shelf life of food in the future.
The FMCG Infinity Zone is a co-operation between swop and „PKG Family“ to create an efficient communication platform for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs). This includes all products that change quickly on the shelf, such as everyday consumer goods. With the rapid socio-economic development and the advent of the digital age, the Consumers' desire for personalisation, emotional appeal, innovation and creativity for new trends in the FMCG industry. Packaging plays a key role in this. The latest packaging materials, ideas, technologies and designs will be presented at swop. Over 300 exhibitors will be presenting themselves in this area.
For Companies from Germany can participate in the swop subsidised by the federal government. The offer of federal participation emphasises the importance of the trade fair. Exhibitors can present themselves together with other German companies under the „Made in Germany“ brand and thus attract additional attention.
