The sister company Ratioform has developed its own evaluation system together with the umbrella organisation Haniel: the Enkelfähig Score. This is designed to make sustainability transparent, comparable and measurable at product level.
Based on the criteria of recyclability, climate protection, environmental compatibility, innovation and economic efficiency a score is determined for each product. The scale ranges from 1.0 to 5.9 as the best possible rating. For a product to be categorised as grandchildren-friendly, it must have a score of at least 3.0. The term Enkelfähig stands for a future worth living in a sustainable, socially just and economically future-orientated world for future generations.
For some time now, the company has been experiencing increased demand for ecological products, but also for a sustainable overall corporate strategy. Kaiserkraft is working intensively on how its products and its customers' processes can be made more sustainable. Almost the entire portfolio has now been assessed according to the Enkelfähig score and thus fulfils the customer's desire for greater sustainability. The company expects, that 40 per cent of sales will be covered by Enkelfähig products in 2025. The evaluation is not a completed process, but an ongoing project in which products and suppliers are continuously scrutinised.
Developments in the packaging industry
In addition to punctuality and integrity, sustainability and the impact on the environment are becoming increasingly important for deliveries. Especially in the The trend towards reusable packaging and packaging made from recycled materials can be seen in e-commerce. are being recorded. Sustainable alternatives to conventional plastic play a particularly important role here. Together with Kaiserkraft, Ratioform not only offers materials made from recycled plastic and paper, but also also alternatives from sugar cane and maize to.
Another trend is right-sizing in the area of shipping packaging. The aim here is to save on unnecessary packaging material. Modern packaging machines are able to do this, cardboard webs to the product to be packaged during the packaging process. Environmentally friendly production increases customer satisfaction and can become a decisive competitive advantage in online retail. Unnecessary filling material in excessively large cardboard packaging, on the other hand, makes a bad impression on the customer and also has a negative impact on the environment and the retailer's finances. Flexible packaging materials benefit from this trend. Consequently the filling material must be just as flexible and customisable. Machine solutions for filling materials offer a high degree of customisation and enable savings in transport and storage costs.
Kaiserkraft has set itself the goal of helping companies to make their individual working environments more sustainable, efficient, safe and ergonomic and to continuously improve them. „The packaging industry is in the midst of a transformation.
