Handling food requires a great deal of sensitivity. At Anuga FoodTec, Schmalz will be presenting how food and packaging can be handled quickly and reliably using vacuum technology. The focus is on the safety of consumers and processes.

Apples in a box, milk in a carton, sushi in a box and mayonnaise in a five-kilogram bucket: food packaging is as diverse as the requirements it has to fulfil. When it comes to handling the focus is always on protection against contamination. Everything that comes into direct contact with food must be non-toxic and easy to clean.

At Anuga FoodTec, Schmalz will be presenting the SFG modular flow gripper, among other products. Specially developed for handling dry foods, the contact element made of FDA-compliant silicone gently picks up sensitive products such as wafers. The gripper fully complies with the hygienic design specifications. Thanks to its compact and lightweight design, the SFG supports highly dynamic processes. The soft and flexible sealing lip holds the vacuum even on textured surfaces. The suction cup can be replaced quickly and easily without tools, making the systems highly available.

If, for example, sushi canapés are to be placed close together in a bowl, the OFG finger gripper comes into play. Lard has the slender limbs are modelled on a human hand. The OFG is not only suitable for small items, but also for products with different shapes such as apples or chicken drumsticks. Users can flexibly adjust the opening angle, gripping force and finger positions and thus realise different gripping patterns with just one tool.

The new compact ejector SCPLb/SCPLc is predestined for all applications with high volume flow requirements. It provides the necessary vacuum for handling cardboard boxes and packaging. With the optionally switchable air saving control also move absorbent materials energy-efficiently. The system compensates for leakage flows, such as those that occur in large vacuum systems with partial occupancy. Schmalz has equipped the compact ejectors with integrated valve technology and monitoring - saving users the effort and costs of an external control system.

Move heavy loads ergonomically

The PalVac Sprint Hygienic vacuum tube lifter helps professionals in food businesses to move heavy loads such as buckets and bags. This enables them to up to 50 kilograms ergonomically and safely. The hose lifter can be removed without tools, the protective hose can be wiped clean and is resistant to many cleaning agents. The low-crack and low-gap design and the high-quality surface polish prevent germs and dirt particles from becoming trapped.

Binar Handling, part of the Schmalz Group, is presenting the new Quick-Lift Arm 100i FOOD at the trade fair. This lifting device fulfils the hygienic requirements, is fully washable and therefore very easy to clean. It works with high precision and safety and can be used in a variety of ways. The QLA 100i FOOD uses the patented handle sensor from Binar Handling, which requires very little force from the operator to lift the entire load. The new product has a typical working radius of 2.7 metres. The maximum working load is 100 kilograms and, depending on the weight of the fully customised end effectors, objects weighing up to 85 kilograms can be moved ergonomically.
