The year 2023 is fast approaching and with it the legal obligation for caterers to offer reusable packaging for out-of-home business. So it's no wonder that a lot is happening in this field. Merways GmbH is now positioning itself with its own app.
Consumers can use the app to borrow the company's reusable crockery for a two-week free loan period. This eliminates the need to scan individual reusable parts, which simplifies the loan process. The app provides an overview of the reusable containers that have been borrowed and reminds customers of their return deadline. If the customer misses this deadline, the loan is automatically extended every week for 99 cents. Once the maximum reminder period of eight weeks has expired, the customer keeps the container.
Basic functions are free of charge
In order to be able to borrow items, end users must deposit a payment method such as PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay or credit card. The catering business receives a refund of five euros for containers not returned by its customers despite reminderswhich is why restaurateurs should also provide a method of payment or receipt of money. The basic function of the application is free of charge for both commercial users and end customers.
"With the Merways app, we are providing all gastronomy, catering and food retail businesses and their customers with an innovative, simple and free solution. The aim is to speed up and facilitate the lending of reusable containers. The application also opens up a new communication channel from the company to the customer", says Dr Frank Lampe, co-founder and Managing Director of Merways GmbH.
The sister company greenbox offers additions to the Merways app. While greenbox GmbH supplies the reusable tableware product range with its comprehensive Häppy-Box reusable product range, the commission-free delivery service software foodsta regulates the digital out-of-home business. Alongside the new Merways app, restaurateurs are thus offered a trio for comprehensive reusable operation.
