Last year, Mondi, a leading global packaging and paper manufacturer, announced that it would be expanding its existing plant in Ansbach, southern Germany. It will become the largest high-performance corrugated board plant in Europe. The „Ansbach 2020“ project is now in the final phase. With an investment totalling 30 million euros, the conditions have been created to meet the demand for innovative and sustainable packaging solutions.

In 2020, the Mondi plant in Ansbach won two ScanStars for transport packaging solutions, which were developed for a leading automotive group. Now installed Mondi The company has successfully installed state-of-the-art machinery at the plant, including a new corrugator, a die-cutter and an inline machine.
In addition, a paper warehouse, a logistics centre and a new waste processing facility were put into operation and the existing intralogistics system was expanded. The investment strengthens the plant's position as a centre for innovative and sustainable packaging solutions. In addition, the modernised machinery leads to lower energy consumption and reduces the CO2 footprint.
„With this investment, we can expand our expertise not only in the automotive industry, but also in segments such as the construction supply industry and the sports and leisure goods industry, and supply high-quality, sustainable packaging goods,“ says Markus Skiba, Managing Director at Mondi Wellpappe Ansbach.
The investment also includes a customer innovation centre for product development & optimisation, product presentations, packaging tests and workshops. This final investment step will finalise the overall project in 2021 and significantly support the development of sustainable packaging solutions.
