Nefab wants to make supply chains more sustainable

It doesn't always have to be plywood. The Swedish company Nefab wants to integrate its fibre-based packaging into the supply chain. And is now also launching a new range of sustainable plastic packaging on the German market.

Strong and moisture-resistant like plywood, but made from agricultural waste. For „EdgePak Straw“, the Swedish company Nefab recently received the German Packaging Award. The fibre-based packaging is designed to offer stacking strength and easy handling with a low CO2 footprint.

It is comparable in strength and moisture resistance to plywood and is therefore offered as a reliable solution not only for light but also for heavy cargo, which should be suitable for shipping products in demanding supply chains by land, sea and air.

Because it is made from agricultural waste, it can be easily recycled into existing paper streams and reduces landfill pollution. To increase the safety of the working environment, EdgePak Straw can be handled and assembled without nails or tools

For shipments that require greater product protection during transport to distant destinations, Nefab offers RePak. This is a lightweight plywood crate with folding hinges that ensures easy handling, assembly and recycling.

Plastic packaging new to the range

The new range of sustainable plastic packaging, including thermoformed trays and cushioning applications, was also presented at Fachpack.

Both are mainly made from recycled plastics and 100 % recyclable materials: They are therefore designed to be an efficient alternative for both single-use and return and recirculation streams. According to Nefab, the solutions are suitable for automated lines that require precise packaging due to robotic handling and are designed to provide a high level of protection and comply with specific product requirements and regulations.
