Neopac, a specialist in tube packaging for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and dental industries, presented a new tube solution for preservative-free eye drops at trade fairs in Madrid and Chicago at the beginning of October. The „SteriDrop“ tube is specially designed to be filled and sealed in sterile tube filling systems.
The SteriDrop tube is used in sterile Tube filling systems filled and sealed and uses as a container the patented Neopac polyfoil technology. In combination with the „Ophthalmic Squeeze Dispenser“ from the partner Aptar Pharma this packaging concept protects preservative-free eye drops from microbiological contamination. The sterile tube is suitable for liquid quantities of up to 30 millilitres. One tube filling is therefore sufficient for daily Eye treatment over a period of 30 days.
Microbiological safety and special ease of use
Microbiological safety is achieved by the special functionality of the tube. When pressure is applied, a precisely dosed drop is released and liquid is prevented from flowing back into the tube. The product remains sterile for the entire duration of use, even without preservatives. Due to the Sealing the tube contents are protected from light, air, water vapour diffusion and the migration of critical substances.
Preservative-free eye care products are used because Preservatives such as benzalkonium chloride (BAC) can lead to side effects. In addition to preservatives, the SteriDrop tube also eliminates the need for additives such as silver ions or surface coatings,
