New brand for corrosion protection

Antalis Verpackungen GmbH offers corrosion protection in the form of VCI paper and film for the European market under the Korus brand.

Antalis Verpackungen GmbH is pooling its expertise in the field of corrosion protection under its own corrosion protection brand. Korus offers VCI paper and films for the European market.

The international Market for anti-corrosion packaging is growing steadily and the need for sustainable and forward-looking packaging concepts and capacities for high-quality metal products and components in the context of ever stricter legal requirements. The team of corrosion protection experts at Antalis Verpackungen has many years of experience in the development and testing of complete packaging solutions for corrosion protection.

„We advise our international customers from a wide range of industries on corrosion protection from the very beginning and along the entire process chain right through to the final customised packaging solution. The introduction of Korus and the first Korus VCI papers and films from our own production is a logical and consistent further development in this important area. This will allow us to act even more flexibly and independently in the interests of our customers in the future.“

The method of using volatile corrosion inhibitors as a carrier coating (e.g. on paper or film) in a draught-proof package permanently evaporate and thus form a protective atmosphere around the sensitive metal, is a common form of corrosion protection. Compared to greasing or oiling, it is clean and dry. After opening the packaging, subsequent process steps are not disturbed because the protective VCI active ingredients volatilise directly and are harmless (TRGS 615 compliant). However, it can be opened briefly, as is the case with customs, without losing its corrosion protection. The Protective atmosphere builds up again automatically after closing. The new Korus VCI papers and films from Antalis Verpackungen also impress with their outstanding recyclability and the wide range of variants for the most diverse areas of application already included in the standard delivery programme.

The most common corrosion protection requirements can be covered with the VCI papers and films in the Korus Premio line. „Korus Premio comprises our new ‚mainstream‘ corrosion protection products, so to speak, with which we cover around 80 per cent of all common application scenarios, including, for example, the Lining of containers or intermediate layers as a cover Martin Schwandt describes just some of the advantages of these multi-talented machines.

The smooth VCI paper from the Korus Premio line is available in two different versions for pure metals or multi-metals and alloys. Several grammages and a PE-coated version are also available on request. The Korus Premio VCI films also impress with their uncomplicated handling and simple application, for example as Bags for small and large individual parts or as bonnets for covering sensitive and bulky metal parts. Korus Excel products are particularly suitable for more specialised applications that require special tear resistance and high resistance to mechanical stress and severe weather conditions.

The VCI papers and films in the Korus Excel line are used wherever special requirements need to be met. Depending on the task, the products can also be developed individually for the respective application. Compared to the Premio papers, the Korus Excel VCI papers either creped, specially coated or specially reinforced available. The creping of the paper maximises the surface area. This allows more VCI active ingredients to enter the packaging. The Creping also makes the paper stretchy and more elastic, so that sharp corners and edges, for example, can be safely enclosed.

The VCI films in the Korus Excel line, on the other hand, have increased water vapour impermeability, special tear resistance and special surfaces. They are used, among other things, for wrapping products or as intermediate layers for set goods. With the standard delivery programme, Antalis Verpackungen also ensures high availability throughout Europe of both Korus VCI papers and the VCI film variants. The papers are conveniently available in various formats, such as rolls, cut-to-size sheets or sacks. Die-cut paper formats are also available as customised products. Korus VCI films are available as bags, bonnets, sacks or rolls.

To put together the best packaging solution for optimum corrosion protection, each customer is supported by an experienced team of experts. In the company's own test laboratory, climatic conditions can also be simulated to test the effectiveness of corrosion protection packaging. In addition, the customer's process chain can be analysed with regard to corrosion protection in order to guarantee the functionality of the packaging. Regular spot checks to analyse the status quo of the corrosion protection of spare parts, some of which have long storage times, are also possible and are already taken into account when developing a packaging concept. The new Korus VCI products are therefore attractive for many industries.
