Mettler-Toledo PCE presents new Mark & Verify systems. They facilitate the integration of labelling functions and code verification in production lines and enable seamless product tracking. The company also announces that it has restructured its Track & Trace solution portfolio.

„While Track & Trace is already commonplace for pharmaceutical manufacturers, more and more industries are now facing the challenge in their supply chains, serialise their products and make them traceable. to make,“ says Andreas Bechthold, General Manager at Mettler-Toledo PCE. „These companies need customised Mark & Verify systems that they can integrate into their existing production processes and packaging machines.“

Mark & Verify systems enable the Printing and verification of 1D and 2D codes and alphanumeric text, as used for the identification of individual products (serialisation) and products packed together in containers such as shipping cartons, boxes or pallets (aggregation). In addition to these reference checks Integrated smart cameras enable both presence and quality checks - for example, the presence of the required labels and information as well as a check of the printing and labelling quality.

New Mark & Verify and aggregation systems

Market requirements in numerous sectors, from the pharmaceutical to the food industry, demand that manufacturers are able to Track products along the entire production and supply chain, to enable simpler and more targeted product recalls where necessary and improve product safety. The new integrated Mark & Verify systems enable manufacturers to use these functions to seamlessly into your existing production lines, and, according to the company, their installation requires only a brief interruption to operations. The new systems are:

T51 Integrated Mark & Verify

T51 Integrated Mark & Verify is suitable for the inspection of codes on aligned products such as Cartons, labels, parcels, shipping cartons and pallets. The system can be integrated directly into production lines or packaging machines and can be easily connected to existing printers. It supports multiple sensors such as smart cameras, barcode scanners or machine readers to perform presence, quality and reference checks. The system enables a throughput of up to 300 products per minute, meets the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and can be upgraded to a serialisation system.

T61 Integrated 360 Mark & Verify

T61 Integrated 360 Mark & Verify is suitable for the Inspection of round products such as bottles and vials up to a maximum product height of 230 mm and a diameter of 6 to 110 mm. The system uses six image sensors to capture a complete 360° view. The inspection head can be installed above conveyor belts, in new lines or on a stand-alone frame with minimal space requirements. Existing printers can be easily integrated to perform presence, quality and reference checks. T61 Integrated 360 Mark & Verify supports a throughput of up to 500 products per minute, meets GMP requirements and can also be upgraded to a serialisation system.

PCE Line Manager - Mark & Verify

The pre-installed software, in conjunction with the Mark & Verify systems from Mettler-Toledo, enables a Comprehensive quality control management. The software helps to avoid product recalls and maintain brand reputation by checking the presence and quality of packaging and labels. Several inspection options are available, e.g. inspection of codes, labels, blisters or texts. The software is ready to use and quick to set up on site without complex integration into the IT infrastructure and can be upgraded to PLM serialisation or PLM aggregation if required.

T16 Manual Multi-Aggregation

In addition to the Mark & Verify systems, the T16 Manual Multi-Aggregation is now also available as a system that enables the Aggregation of serialised packaging in a shipping carton and optionally also on a pallet is made possible. T16 Manual Multi-Aggregation includes a high-resolution autofocus camera and advanced software algorithms to check and verify product codes on serialised cartons and add them to the aggregation hierarchy with a single click.

With its high-performance, high-resolution camera, the system is capable of Check labelling information of several packages at the same time, to log and validate the applied codes. Thanks to the high camera resolution, data matrix or QR codes with a size of just 0.3 mm per code can be processed - ideal for applications such as small labels or applications that require extended codes. The camera can also check label templates as an additional quality control.

Portfolio designed to be more user-friendly

The launch of the new systems coincides with Mettler-Toledo PCE's announcement that it is reorganising its Track & Trace solution portfolio. The product names have been revised to make it easier to recognise the Correct solution The aim is to understand and identify the differences between the numerous manual, automated and integrated 360 systems and between the solutions for Mark & Verify, serialisation, aggregation and multi-aggregation.

„Our Restructured Track & Trace portfolio now makes it easier for customers to find the right solution for their needs and offers them a wealth of information on our new website,“ explains Andreas Bechthold.
