Mondi and EW Technology have teamed up to develop a new paper wrapping machine that wraps pallets with Advantage StretchWrap paper, replacing traditional plastic pallet wrapping with a solution made from recyclable and renewable paper.
The two companies worked together to develop a machine that is more efficient and sustainable for small to medium-sized production lines. It is designed to fill a gap that Mondi has identified in the pallet packaging market. With two settings, the machine can be fully automated to pack up to 60 pallets per hour, or run semi-automatically to pack 10-15 pallets per hour. to pack.
The machine takes a full roll of Mondi's Advantage StretchWrap paper, allowing customers to replace the multi-layer plastic that is currently the industry standard for pallet wrapping. Advantage StretchWrap consists of 100 per cent new paper made from renewable raw materials and Fully recyclable in existing paper waste streams across Europe is. Mondi has commissioned an independent life cycle assessment (LCA) comparing the innovative paper pallet packaging with conventional plastic stretch film and demonstrating that it is performs better in several impact categories - particularly in climate change, with a 62 per cent reduction in CO2-footprint as stretch film made of pure plastic.
