Nomination for Golden Vulture 2022 open

Consumers can once again nominate companies and products for Deutsche Umwelthilfe's Golden Vulture 2022.

Deutsche Umwelthilfe honours companies and products with the Golden Vulture award for brazen environmental lies. The award is directed against greenwashing. As of now, consumers can once again nominate companies, services and products that promise climate and environmental friendliness but fail to deliver. 

The German Environmental Aid (DUH) is calling on all consumers to join forces in the fight against greenwashing. As of now, companies, products or services that only promise to protect the climate, environment or nature can be criticised, but in reality are environmental sinners, be nominated for the long-established "Schmähpreis".

„Industry and trade deceive consumers on an almost daily basis: whether it's supposedly climate-neutral flights, so-called biodegradable coffee capsules or environmentally harmful disposable bags that are advertised as reusable products. Companies and service providers are now earning billions from this greenwashing. And this is bad in three ways: while high profits are being made with products that are harmful to the climate and the environment, consumers are being ripped off and their trust in genuinely green products is declining. We must work together to prevent this. That's why you can help: Tell us which environmental lie has annoyed you the most recently. The Nomination phase starts immediately and ends on 24 July 2022. DUH will put the candidates for the Golden Vulture 2022 from the proposals submitted to an online vote. The public award ceremony for the Golden Vulture is planned for September 2022. The DUH uses the vilification award to draws attention to greenwashing in general, warns consumers and specifically exposes products, with which people are deceived. Ultimately, the aim is to persuade companies to bring honest and ecological products onto the market.
