Discounter Norma is increasingly focussing on conserving resources with its packaging. Numerous products from its own organic brand are now available on the shelves in environmentally friendly packaging.
In future, direct apple juice, fresh and low-fat organic milk from Norma's own brand Organic sun with more sustainable packaging. The three products will be packaged in new Pure-Pak Sense cartons from Elopak sold.
The cartons, each with a capacity of one litre, are intended to score points with their natural look. This is because the fibre structure of the paper layer is visible. This signals to the consumer that the packaging is more environmentally friendly. In addition, around Five per cent less material used. The reduced use of materials also means that less energy is required during production.
According to Norma, the packaging goes particularly well with the Bio-Sonne products as it is made entirely from renewable raw materials. For example, tall oil, a natural residue from paper and pulp production, is used in the production process. This means that conventional plastic based on crude oil can be largely dispensed with.
Norma packs hay milk cheese more sustainably
Norma will also be repackaging its hay-milk cheese in 150g packs in future. A carton with 100 per cent recyclable paper replaces the previous plastic bottom tray. In this way, the discounter saves almost 70 per cent plastic per pack sold.

As with other products, the packaging components can be easily separated. This makes it easier to recycle the components.
