We usually report on more manageable packaging solutions. But when an internationally renowned landmark is packaged instead of muesli, yoghurt, perfume or pills, even packaging journal can't avoid it. And is delighted with the German company that was able to help make a dream come true posthumously.
From the wrapped Reichstag to the „Surrounded Islands“ in Florida. During their lifetime, Christo and Jeanne-Claude created spectacular actions and impressive images. The couple were never able to see the Arc de Triomphe in Paris wrapped.
Christo died last year, his wife in 2009, and wrapping the famous landmark in the French capital was always on their long list of lifelong dreams. Now their son has ensured that this dream becomes a posthumous reality - with German help.

The material comes from Lübeck
„Geo - The Air Workers“ is the name of the Lübeck-based company, which normally earns most of its money with hot-air balloon advertising, the sale of airships and event parachutes. For Christo's dream, the Luftwerkers have now entered the packaging business, so to speak. In Schleswig-Holstein, eight women worked for months to sew the 25,000 square metre envelope. It was temporarily stored in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and has been attached to the triumphal arch since this week.
From 18 September to 3 October, the wrapped Arc de Triomphe will be on display just as Christo and his wife wanted it to be during their lifetime: Wrapped.
