PackTheFuture Award 2023: These are the winners

56 submissions, 10 winners, 1 special prize and 1 honourable mention - that is the positive balance of the PackTheFuture Award 2023. The results were announced at the award ceremony at interpack. The award honours innovative and sustainable plastic packaging solutions.

The award also aims to recognise the contribution of plastic packaging on climate protection, the circular economy and responsible consumption and publicise them. The award is organised by the two associations IK Industrial Association for Plastic Packaging and Elipso, the French association for plastic packaging and flexible packaging.

Both associations, Elipso and the IK, are convinced that it is No ecological and energy transition without plastic packaging can give. „Plastic packaging is becoming lighter and lighter, contains recycled or bio-based materials, is itself recyclable and is constantly evolving thanks to the genuine expertise of our industry,“ explains Bouquet.

Packaging industry takes a stand

It shows that the packaging industry is prepared to take responsibility and develop solutions that meet the needs of consumers as well as the requirements of environmental and climate protection. The packaging presented here is proof that plastics, innovation and sustainability go hand in hand and that the transformation of the packaging industry is already in full swing.“

For this sixth edition of the PackTheFuture Awards, European companies 56 Packaging innovations which demonstrate the dynamism and strong innovative capacity of the industry. It is ready not only to face the challenges but also to respond to the problems of climate change. The high quality of the submissions demonstrates the strong commitment of IK and ELIPSO members to the circular economy and their commitment to more sustainable and responsible plastic packaging. The 27 entries in the „Ecodesign“ category“ show that sustainable development is becoming increasingly important for corporate strategies.

However, the PackTheFuture Award is not only an honour for sustainable packaging innovations, but also a symbol of co-operation and exchange between European countries. IK and Elipso are working together to realise the vision of a circular economy in Europe.

Packaging industry looks ahead to possible UN plastics agreement

Cautiously optimistic: slight recovery for plastic packaging

Manufacturers of plastic packaging and films in Germany expect their situation to stabilise cautiously in the third quarter of 2025. This is shown by the latest economic survey by the IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen. After a weak start to the year, industry sentiment is improving - but the challenges remain great.
