Mondi and Robopac are launching a paper stretch wrap that replaces plastic. The system wraps up to 750 pallets in Mondi's recyclable Advantage StretchWrap paper.
Mondi has teamed up with Robopac, a manufacturer of pallet packaging machines, to develop a Seamless and more sustainable paper packaging solution for the storage and transport of pallets offer. The two companies combined Mondi's expertise in packaging and paper with Robopac's know-how in packaging machines.
Robopac's new paper wrapping machine uses Mondi's Advantage StretchWrap, which is used for 100 per cent kraft paper and provides protection for palletised goods due to its high strength, puncture resistance and stress absorption. offers. The paper is made from responsibly sourced, renewable materials, contains no plastic or coatings and is therefore fully recyclable in existing waste streams across Europe.
„Our biggest challenge was to adapt the paper material to the packaging processes and at the same time ensure maximum stabilisation of the customer's products during transport with minimum use of resources. With the help of our unique Cube technology, we achieve maximum load stabilisation and are very satisfied with the effectiveness of our machines“ performance in combination with Mondi's Advantage StretchWrap."
DisplayFiliberto Felici, Product Manager at Robopac
Both Robopac's semi-automatic and fully automatic machines can utilise Mondi's Advantage StretchWrap, enabling customers to replace unnecessary plastic that is currently the industry standard for pallet wrapping. An independent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) showed that Advantage StretchWrap performs better in several environmental impact categories, such as climate change. The LCA found that the greenhouse gas emissions by 62 per cent compared to stretch films made of virgin material and greenhouse gas emissions by 62 per cent compared to stretch films made of plastic, which consist of 50 per cent recycled material, are 49 per cent lower.
The semi-automatic machine is capable of processing a 25 kg roll of Advantage StretchWrap every hour to secure up to 40 pallets with one roll. The fully automatic wrapping machine, on the other hand, can wrap up to 750 pallets with one roll, which corresponds to an output of up to 60 pallets per hour.
„We very much appreciate working with Robopac as equals, including the great exchange of expertise. We also have similar core values in our companies. Working closely with our partners is key to the transition to sustainable packaging solutions. Therefore, working with Robopac really drives our progress towards a circular economy and offers our customers a combination of state-of-the-art machinery and the best quality packaging paper.“
