Papierfabrik Meldorf produces paper from grass and recycled fibres. The papermakers from Tornesch have now patented the manufacturing process for the Nature-Liner, thereby protecting their developments in the industrial production of multi-ply grass paper.
The Meldorf paper mill has made the machine runability process-capable and optimised it further and further, to be able to produce different grammages and appearances. The Nature liner also forms the basis for the Nature board, which is produced in a further step by lamination.
With this further development in the higher basis weights of 250 - 550 g/m², the paper mill can the raw material for both corrugated cardboard boxes and solid cardboard folding boxes on the market. As both products come from the same process, the same grass look is also guaranteed for product and shipping packaging.
As a feature of this product line, the paper mill from Tornesch developed its own grass sealwhich can be made available to customers in German or English. This gives them the opportunity to visualise the sustainability of the Nature-Liner. The comparative life cycle assessment of the Meldorf paper mill between pure recycled paper and the Nature-Liner grass paper also demonstrates the ecological advantages, particularly as the verification is prepared in accordance with the current DIN standard and subjected to an independent audit.
The Nature-Liner is also compostable and recyclable, which is why the Tornesch-based company offers a take-back service for grass paper waste. to reintegrate them into the process and close the recycling loop again.
