The bottle, which has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel, consists of made from fully recyclable PET monomaterial with a recycled content of around 30 per cent. With at least twelve rotations, it will remain in service for an estimated three to four years.

Light, stable, climate-friendly
The bottle was presented on 20 April 2022 in the presence of Austrian Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler and Alexander Egit, Managing Director of Greenpeace in Central and Eastern Europe. „The majority of Austrians want reusable bottles on the shelves. PET is the ecologically sensible addition to our range. As the market leader in the deposit sector, we are the first company in Austria to create an easy and practical alternative,“ explain the two Vöslauer managing directors Birgit Aichinger and Herbert Schlossnikl. The new offer replaces the previous 1-litre PET two-way bottle with deposit.
„People want to consume sustainably. Although reusable PET is the optimal packaging solution, there is currently not a single product on the Austrian market. The reusable PET bottle developed together with Vöslauer shows how demand, a sense of responsibility, innovative spirit and technological expertise can reduce CO2-footprint.“
Rainer Widmar, Managing Director Central and Eastern Europe at Alpla
The from Alpla developed bottle is At just 55 grams, it is around 90 per cent lighter than the reusable glass version. This reduces the CO2-footprint by around 30 per cent. By introducing the returnable PET bottle, Vöslauer saves around 400 tonnes of material and 420 tonnes of CO2.
