Plastic drums with a higher proportion of recycled material

With multi-layer extrusion, Schütz Packaging Systems was able to increase the proportion of recycled material in IBCs and plastic drums from the Green Layer series.

By using multi-layer extrusion and further developing its recycling processes, Schütz Packaging Systems has been able to increase the proportion of recycled material in IBCs and plastic drums. Products in the Green Layer series contain recyclate in the middle layer.

The Green Layer series is the latest development in Schütz's Green Lifecycle Management programme. With this programme, the packaging specialist supports customers in achieving their sustainability goals and reducing CO2-footprint of packaging as a whole. Ensuring the required amount of recyclate is ultimately a partnership between all members of the entire supply chain

The Green Layer product series is used in the field of industrial packaging. The company uses 3 or 6-layer extrusion blow moulding systems across the board. This enables Schütz to produce high-quality, natural-coloured Recycled material with a proportion of 30 % also in the production of the inner containers in. The special feature here is that the recyclate only flows into the centre layer of the inner bladder. Schütz continues to produce the inner and outer layers from new HDPE. This means that the filling product and the packaging environment still only come into direct contact with virgin material. Users save new plastic goods and CO2 and at the same time make an important contribution to achieving the goals of the European Green Deal.

The packaging in the Green Layer series does not differ from other series in terms of quality. Whether IBCs or plastic drums - the products are suitable as ecological packaging for numerous applications. With this product line, customers benefit from a highhigh recyclate content, a low operating weight and maximum safety. UN approvals are also available on a large scale, particularly for Schütz plastic drums. The new Green Layer series will initially be launched in the European markets. Following a successful launch, the company will gradually offer the packaging in other regions as well.
