Printing technology for beer cans

Heineken Enterprise relies on the H!GHEND printing technology from Ardagh Metal Packaging, which is used to print the entire surface of cans.

Heineken Enterprise has opted for H!GHEND printing technology from Ardagh Metal Packaging for a new beer for the French market. The process allows designs to be printed on the entire surface of the beverage cans.

A new craft beer from Heineken Entreprise - France utilises the H!GHEND from Ardagh Metal Packaging, to communicate directly with consumers, to ensure that the flavoursome beer is enjoyed to the full. Pélican, a new lager with an alcohol content of 7.5 per cent, is an unfiltered beer, which is why small sediments can form at the bottom of the can. In order for the beer to develop its full character, it must be „woken up“ by turning the standard 500 ml can upside down and putting it back again. The message “Retournez-Savourez“ ("Turn and enjoy") is printed on the can end and is made possible by the company's H!GHEND technology.

„We are delighted that our customers recognise the creative potential of H!GHEND. The genius of the Pélican packaging is that it uses H!GHEND to bring the packaging and the product together and create an interactive moment for the consumer, not just as a gimmick but for practical reasons related to the flavour of the product. Our customer service teams are ready to help all customers realise their creative ideas through H!GHEND and our other customisation options.“

The versatile printing technology enables high-quality decoration in CMYK colours, which is coordinated with the branding, increases the visual impact with HD graphics and creates special editions with differentiation. The design integrates the body of the Pélican can into the H!GHEND lid.

„We like to use cans because they are recyclable, produce less CO2 and offer a large surface area for creative designs. With Pélican as a new brand, we wanted to stand out from the crowd. That's why we chose H!GHEND, to remind customers to engage in that moment of pleasure and ritual - the „flip“ - that makes drinking unfiltered Pélican a special experience. Our Péli can is the result of a great collaboration with AMP: we really appreciated their expertise and creativity throughout the process.“

Margaux Planquart, Senior Craft Brands Manager, Heineken Entreprise

The new can will be available in France from September.
