Ranpak is expanding its automated packaging portfolio with the global launch of Flap'it! The automated solution packs a variety of different small products five times faster than manual processes and enables material cost savings of up to 50 per cent.

Flap'it! automatically adjusts the correct height of the packaging and secures the product with inner flaps and padded corners. This improves the protection of the packaged contents and minimises transport damage, which reduces costs and means fewer product returns. The system is operated by just one employee and can easily be set up practically anywhere. It also offers numerous safety functions and only requires a small footprint.

Flap'it! can Pack up to 540 parcels per hour or nine parcels per minute and is therefore five times faster than manual packaging processes. The machine is integrated into labelling solutions for the inline application of shipping labels. As Flap'it! folds the parcels from flat blanks, there is no longer any need to keep ready-made boxes in different sizes in stock. The recipient can easily open the parcel without a knife, scissors or other tools. Small parcels can even be delivered via the letterbox.

One of the first Flap'it! customers include Europe's leading photo service provider CEWE, based in Germany, which sends out more than six million photo books every year. Several Flap'it! systems have enabled CEWE to reduce the number of temporary workers employed at peak times and automate 30 per cent of the entire packaging operation. This has shortened the delivery time for the end customer and improved the packaging quality by better protecting the packaged products.
