The Motoman collaborative robot from Yaskawa was honoured with the „Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020“ for its excellent design quality.

This counts Yaskawa is one of the winners of the world's most prestigious design competition. The MRK-capable Motoman HC10DT IP67 is both dustproof and waterproof. The design in the Protection class IP67 the 6-axis robot can even be used in demanding environments where it is exposed to dirt or liquids, for example.

Like the basic HC10DT model, the new IP67 version also combines the best of both worlds: It combines the Stability and high movement speeds of an industrial robot with the safe Limitation of contact forces between operator and robot and thus enables a Real human-robot collaboration (HRC). As a robot with power and force limitation, the HC10DT can be protected to IP67 in accordance with the technical specification ISO TS15066 can be used. It therefore requires no additional protective measures, so that the Extremely flexible installation can take place.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design offers designers and manufacturers from all over the world a Platform for the evaluation of your products. In 2020, designers and companies from 60 nations submitted more than 6,500 products to the competition. The international jury, consisting of experienced experts from various fields, has been coming together for around 65 years to select the best designs.

The multi-day evaluation process is based on two essential criteria: The jurors try out all the entries, The designers are asked to assess not only the aesthetics but also the selected materials, workmanship, surface structure, ergonomics and functionality. Only after intensive discussions do they make a decision on the design quality of the products. True to the motto „In search of good design and innovation“ only the best designs receive an award.
