In 2019, expert SE switched its shipping packaging to the Smart Container Loop reusable system. The two companies have now extended their collaboration for a further five years. With the alternative to conventional cardboard boxes, CO2-emissions were saved.
The Smart Container Loop GmbH announces the extension of its contract with expert. After five years of successful cooperation, the two companies have agreed to continue their partnership for a further five years. As Germany's second-largest electronics retailer, expert SE offers its customers the highest level of service and consulting expertise.
For greater sustainability and better product protection, the specialist retail cooperation switched completely to the Smart Container Loop reusable system for shipping goods in cardboard boxes in 2019. The system consists of logistically sophisticated containers, each of which is sealed with a lid. One Seamless track-and-trace software ensures precise tracking of the containers. These are an integral part of the conveying and picking technology at the expert Fulfillment Centre in Langenhagen, which will open at the beginning of 2022. The containers are stored here in a packed and palletised with a high degree of automation. From there, the electronics retailer supplies its affiliated retailers throughout Germany.
„The advantages of our cooperation with Smart Container Loop are obvious: by packaging our goods in more robust reusable containers, we have been able to significantly reduce damage and losses in the transport of goods and also simplify the receipt of goods at our specialist retailers. In addition, transport in reusable containers is more sustainable than shipping in cardboard boxes, which is also a decisive selection criterion for expert. I am therefore delighted to continue our successful collaboration with Smart Container Loop.“
Christian Heinrich, Head of Distribution Logistics at expert
With its reusable systems for the B2B sector, Smart Container Loop offers many shippers a sustainable and affordable alternative to increasingly expensive shipping boxes. Compared to disposable packaging, which even when recycled still requires a lot of water and, above all, CO2-consumption can be realised with the Shipping a single reusable container 50 per cent CO2 saved be recycled. This is because even in recycling, raw materials still have to be transported, shredded, cleaned and reprocessed, which is energy-intensive. Last but not least, the systems already fulfil the requirements set out in the draft of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and requirements.
„Since our foundation in 2019, we have not only established ourselves as a specialist for reusable shipping systems in the B2B sector, but have also grown together with our customer expert. We are delighted to be able to continue this success story together in the coming years. We now want to join forces to promote greater sustainability in parcel logistics until at least 2029. This is because we can make a significant contribution to protecting our environment.“
