The multi-component packaging at Lidl and Kaufland is gradually being labelled with separation instructions to motivate consumers to dispose of it correctly.

The Schwarz Group carries the segregation notices on the packaging of its retail divisions Lidl and Department store as part of its plastics strategy REset Plastic successively. The aim is to motivate customers to dispose of their packaging correctly and thus contribute to better recycling.

Separation instructions provide information about materials

The instructions directly on the packaging Information about the materialsof which the individual packaging components are made, thus facilitating correct disposal.

In summer 2020, the Schwarz Group organised a representative Online survey on the topic of waste separation in Germany. According to the survey, over 80 per cent of respondents want easily accessible information on separating packaging - preferably directly on the product. This is precisely where the new information should come in.
