In response to the increased sugar taxes in the Saudi Arabian market, MenaBev is also using Sidel's expertise to introduce new formats of the Carolina bottle. The two PET Combi lines were each successfully customised in one week. In addition, Sidel's technicians were able to maximise production output. Now the Aquafina system up to 60,000 bottles per hour compared to the previous 54,000 bph. At the same time, the Carolina plant was able to maintain its optimised speed of 48,000 bph.

As part of the design process for Aquafina, Sidel focussed on supporting MenaBev's sustainability goals. This included delivering a lightweight, high performance bottle for the iconic brand. The technical development of the new design included a complete Feasibility study, laboratory tests and performance tests of the stretch blow moulding process. This approach was applied to the 330 ml, 500 ml and 1.5 litre Aquafina bottles to ensure high performance. The new Aquafina design resulted in a lower weight for the 330 ml bottle. Thanks to a Reduction of raw material by 10 per cent optimises the industrial performance of the bottle and creates a positive consumer experience.
