The STI Group is investing in folding carton production at its Czech site in Rumburk. An additional production plant will increase the Group's capacity. A new printing press will also go into operation in Hungary.
The production plant in Rumburk expands the folding carton expertise of the STI Group as a fourth location in future. From the middle of the year, a 6-colour + lacquer Heidelberg printing press, one each Bobst- and a Wupa die cutter as well as several folder gluers were implemented. With a food certification of the Rumburk site, the Focus on packaging for the food industry laid. In view of the Group's plant portfolio, Rumburk will be expanding in the area of medium print runs in 3b format and all common adhesive types between the production plant in Hungary and the Greven site with its finishing expertise. There are currently 80 employees in Rumburk.
Display finishing at the Group's Czech site will continue in parallel with folding carton production. This area will continue to work closely with the Group's German display plant in Neutraubling. The „Petöfi“ folding carton plant in Kecskemét, Hungary, is part of the Group with a output of approx. 2 billion packagings per year is one of the largest folding carton productions in Europe. The new Printing press with 6 inking units and a coating unit processes conventional inks and coatings. It will complement the printing press portfolio at the STI Group site, which already has a machine of the same type, in order to build up the necessary capacity.
„In the folding carton segment, we have been able to grow strongly with existing and new customers in recent years and outperform the market. By setting up a new, efficient production facility for folding cartons in Eastern Europe, we are meeting our customers“ increased demand for sustainable fibre-based packaging solutions."
