The 26th European Carton Excellence Awards are once again looking for the best cartonboard packaging this year. Entries are now being accepted until 27 May to find the best ecological packaging design made from virgin fibre or recycled material.
The prizes are awarded in four categories: General Packaging - Virgin Fibres, General Packaging - Recycled Fibres, Food and Beverage Packaging - Virgin Fibres and Food and Beverage Packaging - Recycled Fibres. There are also Special prizes for innovation and sustainability (formerly Save The Planet Award) and the coveted Carton of the Year Award. And finally, the public also has the opportunity to vote for their favourite packaging as part of the public award.

The Competition, which was developed by Per Carton and the European Carton Makers Association (ECMA), is aimed at supply chain partners at all levels, their most innovative cardboard packaging designs, the most ecologically sound packaging medium.

„We at Pro Carton are all about promoting the sustainability and benefits of cartonboard, and what better way to do that than with the European Carton Excellence Awards! Even though I only joined Pro Carton last year in October, I have been following this award ceremony for years and am always impressed by the quality of the products presented and the versatility of cartonboard packaging. I am very excited to see the creative and imaginative entries in this year's competition.“
DisplayWinfried Mühling, General Manager of Pro Carton

The winners are selected by a high-calibre jury of packaging experts representing various stakeholders from the cartonboard value chain. They evaluate each entry on the basis of certain Criteria such as graphic and structural design, production methods, cost efficiency, ecology, innovation and comfort.
