Stora Enso was honoured with the prestigious Worldstar Award 2021 for the design of its environmentally friendly cardboard pellet packaging.
The award-winning 12 kg pellet box from Finnish paper and packaging manufacturer Stora Enso represents a sustainable alternative to the plastic packaging otherwise commonly used for wood pellets in the eyes of the jury. When designing the packaging, particular attention was paid to the User friendliness and the Recyclability as well as the visual appearance. An integrated carrying handle facilitates transport.
„The pellet packaging is a good example of how clever design can help replace plastic with renewable, recyclable and low-carbon material. The packaging offers strong usability benefits compared to alternative pellet packaging and allows for easier carrying and pouring as well as more compact storage.“ Tom Lind, SVP Head of Corrugated Nordics Stora Enso
The packaging was designed by the Finnish packaging designer Karoliina Pennanen and the team of Stora Enso Packaging Automation developed.
