Syntegon will be focusing on technologies for greater sustainability at its first virtual trade fair from 7 to 13 May. The company will be presenting the new TPU paper forming machine for fibre-based primary packaging (read more).

For the Conversion of existing systems to sustainable materials Syntegon offers retrofit kits and comprehensive advice on ecological and efficient packaging processes. A novelty in this area is the „paper-ON-form“ retrofit kit for horizontal flow-wrapping machines, which can be used to process cold and heat sealable barrier papers. The set consists of a patented tubular bag mould and sealing tools adapted to the packaging paper. It is already being used on systems by international chocolate producers for packaging in paper.

Syntegon is also working with partners on other innovative approaches. New materials, such as transparent paper, can expand the areas of application of fibre-based packaging - for example, paper bags with a viewing window. Plastic trays for biscuit packaging can be replaced by paper solutions.

Intelligent solutions

At its virtual trade fair, Syntegon presents its new Flexible filling portfolio for liquid pharmaceuticals before. The individually configurable, modular machine concept for processing small and medium-sized batches is the Intelligent response to the increasing demand for medicines for smaller patient groups. Whether syringes, vials or cartridges: pharmaceutical manufacturers can customise the individual modules and receive a filling line tailored to their needs, including an integrated isolator for aseptic and highly potent active ingredients. In parallel thanks to new software solutions production data and thus support the operator in ensuring traceability and increasing product safety.

The new Carton former platform ACE (Advanced Carton Erector) is another example of Syntegon's intelligent technologies. The platform has high-speed forming functions and can process a wide range of different carton sizes. It moulds cartons and trays without the use of glue. A special insertion technique or ultrasonic technology is used for this purpose. The ACE platform is suitable for packaging baked goods, snacks, muesli bars and frozen goods, for example, as well as for products outside the food sector.
