Thimm designs particularly efficient multi-material packaging for Schönox

Thimm Packaging Systems has developed a particularly efficient solution for transport packaging for Sika Deutschland GmbH. For the new „iLine App“ device from the Sika brand Schönox for applying adhesives, Thimm designed a multi-material solution based on a folding box made of corrugated cardboard in accordance with the Fefco standard.

Thimm emphasises that this transport packaging was particularly economical and sustainable in terms of time, materials and finances. This can be seen in the shipping packaging for the „iLine App“, particularly in the ingenious design of the packaging interior. Precisely fitting blanks made of corrugated cardboard and foam padding secure and protect the product. A corrugated cardboard wrap is also integrated. This acts as a spacer, additionally securing the product and preventing it from slipping.

The winder has an additional function. It also serves as a compartment for accessories and spare parts. These are fixed in the compartment with elasticated nub foam and can therefore be transported safely.

Manfred Friedrich, Market Area Manager for Flooring Technology at Sika Germany, points out in particular that the special design of the packaging means that no additional outer packaging, such as a wooden crate, is required for shipping the product. „Thanks to the modular design, no additional parts, such as an accessory box, are required. This significantly simplifies handling and saves time. In addition, the packaging can be used by the tradesperson as long-term storage for the product and accessories after transport.“

Corrugated cardboard packaging for monitor mounts won in the Czech Republic

Thimm has long been recognised for its expertise in the particularly efficient design of packaging solutions. At the Czech packaging award „Obal roku 2018“, the transport packaging for monitor mounts received an award in the category „Automotive/Transport and Industrial Packaging“.

The original packaging, which contained a large amount of bubble wrap and adhesive tape, was replaced by an optimised corrugated cardboard solution. Both parts of the holder are fixed separately in the internal protective fixation. The fixation itself is produced as a one-piece die-cut, which can be stored flat before packing. Each part is locked in place when the fixation is folded. At the same time, protective padding elements are created.
