The product comes from the home town of Coca Cola. The first test market in Europe will be the Balearic Islands. In future, cans in multipacks will be held together by cardboard instead of plastic.
Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) has recently announced that it will label its cans in Spanish test markets with the CanCollar bundling. A cardboard packaging solution that 100% recyclable and replaces the current Hi-Cone packaging. According to the company, this could save more than 18 tonnes of plastic per year.

CanCollar was developed in collaboration with the Atlanta-based packaging company WestRock developed. It is made from sustainable materials and uses neither glue nor adhesive. This should also reduce the CO2 footprint and production costs to a minimum.
The newly packaged cans will be seen in supermarkets in the Balearic Islands for the first time in November 2020. The company has invested 2.6 million euros in its plant in Barcelona for this purpose.
