PPWR Compliance goes digital: Siddarth Bagri, PACKINTELX | interpack 2026

How does a young startup help with the complex PPWR implementation? Siddarth Bagri (PACKINTELX) presents digital solutions for compliance and international supplier coordination at interpack 2026 – and explains why the packaging industry is still „oldschool" when it comes to data work.

The new EU Packaging Regulation PPWR presents complex challenges for companies. The Mainz-based startup PACKINTELX, founded by Siddarth Bagri, aims to help with cloud-based software and consulting at interpack 2026.

Bureaucracy over innovation

„We've noticed that PPWR brings sustainability later, but bureaucracy in the first 2 years,“ Bagri explains the current situation. The company, which is only a year old, is therefore initially focusing on transparency and traceability. „The requirement of PPWR is to create traceability, to create transparency,“ says the CEO.

The problem: Many companies are still working with outdated tools. „In our industry of packaging, recycling, and waste management, we are really old school because we all use spreadsheets, SharePoint, and Outlook,“ criticises Bagri. This is precisely where PACKINTELX comes in – with the aim of transferring data processing from email attachments and Excel spreadsheets into a systematic platform.

Global supply chains in focus

The international dimension is particularly challenging. „It's very surprising how global our supply chain is,“ reports Bagri from his practical experience with manufacturers in the automotive, cosmetics, and food sectors. Suppliers from Asia often first need to be educated about European legislation.

PACKINTELX therefore offers a two-stage system: firstly, training and understanding of PPWR requirements, then a digital platform with a supplier portal. „I can generate compliance and technical data with just one click,“ promises Bagri. This means the biggest hurdle – obtaining data from international suppliers – is no longer a constant manual task, but a standardised process.

Vision beyond compliance

The startup is already planning its expansion. „We want to build more technology, more AI, more opportunities for businesses, so that compliance isn't a difficult, complex, and unpleasant thing,“ explains Bagri his vision. Additionally, PACKINTELX is working on innovative recycling solutions.

PACKINTELX thus demonstrates how young companies can react flexibly to new regulatory requirements. The combination of consulting and digitalisation could make it easier for other companies to enter the PPWR – and incidentally lead a sector that still works with spreadsheets today into a data-driven future.
